Dopamine Dominance

DopamineAs we are working with people to correct their underlying neurotransmitter imbalances it is not unusual for people to require several urine tests to help us determine the exact amount of 5-HTP, L-tyrosine, L-dopa and/or necessary cofactors to achieve proper neurotransmitter function. Over the years, it became evident that there was a small minority of people (between 6-8%) that required much higher levels of dopamine than their peers. This group is labeled as having dopamine dominance. (more…)

The Impact of Neurotransmitter Imbalance

Imbalance_Stones_EditNeurotransmitter imbalances can cause an incredibly wide range of health issues. The reason is clear: neurotransmitters are chemical messengers that relay information between the brain and the rest of the body; if neurotransmitter imbalances are present, improper information gets sent. In essence, the wiring of the body gets fouled up and this can have a very wide range of effects. (more…)

Using Amino Acid Therapy with Prescription Medications

medicationsAmino acid therapy involves providing the body with the necessary building blocks to restore proper neurotransmitter function. There are many disorders associated with neurotransmitter imbalance. The conventional approach to many of these disorders – including depression, anxiety, migraines, insomnia and ADHD, is to use medications that in some way alter neurotransmitter function. (more…)

How Amino Acid Therapy Differs from Other Therapies

NEUROTRANSMITTER-PICTUREAmino acid therapy is a term we use to describe the process of determining and giving the body the nutrients it needs to restore proper neurotransmitter function. The nutrients needed include various amino acids (which are the precursors to neurotransmitters) and any other vitamins or minerals needed to help improve the conversion of amino acids into their respective neurotransmitters (these are often referred to as ‘cofactors’). (more…)

How NeuroReplete Works

neurorepleteAmino acid therapy involves supplying the body the necessary building blocks it needs to achieve the proper balance of brain chemicals called neurotransmitters. Each person requires their own specific blend of amino acids to achieve optimal neurotransmitter function. However, the process of determining the exact blend of amino acids that any given person needs has to start with that person taking a balanced amount of amino acids. One of the formulas we use for that purpose is called NeuroReplete. (more…)

Amino Acid Therapy – How the Process Works

Amino acid therapy entails determining and providing the body the necessary amino acids and accompanying cofactors needed to restore proper neurotransmitter function. Basically, we need to give the body what it needs to (a) replenish deficient stores of neurotransmitters and (b) reestablish proper balance between key neurotransmitters. Each person requires their own unique blend of amino acids and precursors to achieve optimal neurotransmitter function (and thus, eliminate symptoms associated with neurotransmitter imbalance). This is where the use of specific laboratory testing, clinical experience and proper training come into play. (more…)
